It's somewhat more concrete and easier for a GM to adjudicate than Realm magic. It's a flexible, improvisational system that combines elements of Realm magic and Noun/Verb. Several magic systems have been released in their own PDFs. Other systems in Thaumatology include Noun/Verb magic, and Realm magic, which is the serial numbers filed off version of Mage the Ascension's magic spheres, originally GURPSified in 3rd edition for GURPS Mage the Ascension. I believe it is an update of the system introduced in GURPS Voodoo and GURPS Spirits. It is slow and subtle, but potentially very powerful. GURPS Thaumatology includes several new magic systems, along with options and advice for tweaking and altering magic systems. But there have been several alternative magic systems introduced for 4th. ![]() The Magic book for 4th includes spells from 3rd Magic and Grimoire. The 'default' magic system in GURPS 4th is pretty much the same as 3rd.
